Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. When she was a kid, she went to at the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma always had the desire to become a professional actor from the age of six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting institute that offers part-time classes. By the age of ten she was performing and taking part in many Stagecoach shows and school productions. In 1999 casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having eight consecutive auditions. Emma's debut on the big screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. It was also one of the top-rated films during 2001. Its opening weekday and weekend the sales were record breaking. Reviewers praised the film and particularly the young performers. The highly distributed British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma's performance was recognized and was awarded five awards for the film.
